FAQ’s for Hosts

Even if you’ve never been to a Studios’ Arts & Eats party, by now, you probably know they’re the most anticipated cultural events of the season! With fun and artsy themes, one-of-a kind entertainment, unique locations, and delectable food & drinks, many of the parties are so popular, they sell out within minutes of going online.

We think you’d be a wonderful Arts & Eats host, and would love for you to consider partnering with us in this valuable fundraising effort for The Studios.  We hope you’ll look over the information below, and please feel free to contact Elena Devers, Arts & Eats Coordinator or  Jed Dodds, Executive Director, if you have any questions.

If you do decide to host a party in your home, we look forward to working with you to craft an absolutely unforgettable signature event!

What's an Arts & Eats party like?

Each season, we plan ten intimate get-togethers at the homes of Studios’ patrons, members and friends. The parties are all totally unique, but they each offer exclusive entry into a private home, an artistic or cultural component, and of course, delicious food and drink.

Parties can be at any time of the day or evening. They are intimate, and can be centered around brunch, afternoon tea, early evening cocktails or a seated or buffet dinner. Guests have an opportunity to mingle, enjoy great company, good food, an interesting visual or performing arts presentation/performance and meaningful conversations with friends old and new.

What is expected of the host? (costs, supplies, etc.?)

In addition to opening their home, we ask hosts to consider underwriting the the catering, bar and necessary party rentals for their event. These costs can be counted as a tax- deductible gift to The Studios. To help defray the overall cost for the event, we have worked with several local vendors to make possible a 20% discount on items such as tables, chairs, linens and glassware. We can also offer you a discounted bar package for wine or spirits.

Of course, you would set the limit on the number of guests you wish to accommodate and determine the type of event you care to host – including the menu options and decor. Our goal is to net $2500 to $3000 per party for The Studios with tickets priced accordingly.

What does The Studios provide?

The Studios will work with you to design a party that best highlights your home and reflects your personality. Let us know if you’ve got a lovely art collection you’d like to show off or a wonderful grand piano that loves to be played.

Oftentimes, we’ll provide the entertainment, centering your party upon an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, one of our artists-in-residence, or even a celebrity writer or artist.

The Studios handles all marketing and ticket sales for the event, and helps with planning the party and logistics.

What about staffing the event?

The Studios has many dedicated volunteers who love to help with set up, service, bartending and clean up. We always try to make things as easy as possible for our gracious hosts and can assist with planning and logistics from start to finish!

When do Arts & Eats parties happen?

Our parties are scheduled to happen during the island’s main cultural season, and we find events scheduled between January and early April are the most successful.
