Painting with Light and Color

John Clayton

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, March 12, 13 & 14

9am-3pm

Kat in the Hat Classroom

$360, $325 mbrs.

A color-focused plein Air and studio workshop designed to deepen your understanding of light and color. Participants will paint from life as John demonstrates various techniques for mixing and applying color, creating light-filled compositions that emphasize key elements. Each session will feature a unique lesson, primarily using a palette knife to capture vibrant color notes and expressive designs.

We’ll explore both figure and landscape painting, simplifying forms and colors while working outdoors in beautiful Key West and in the studio. Grounded in the principles of Charles Hawthorne, this workshop offers a fantastic opportunity to experiment with simplifying color shapes, or “spots,” in your artwork.
