About the Event

La Cucaracha Chronicles presents: La Chicharra (The Cicada) Story Slam. This live storytelling competition features a line up of Key West locals, each with a chance to tell a story, based on the theme “It changed my life!” No notes are allowed: stories must be told and not read.

  • Gwen Filosa (Pulitzer Prize winner & comedian)
  • Clayton Lopez (Commissioner & Civil Rights Icon)
  • Tommy Ryan (Courageous FDNY 9/11 firefighter)
  • Steve Torrance (Pastor, policeman & public servant)
  • An audience member
