José Martí Returns to Key West

Free!

On Jan 28, Cuban poet and revolutionary José Martí returns to life, and just as he did over 100 years ago, rides his famous white steed, Bacanao, through the streets of Key West, reciting poems in English and Spanish along the way!

Join Martí at any or all of the stops on his historic ride. The route includes:

– 5 Brothers Coffee at 3pm
– The Cuban Martyr’s monument in the Cemetery at 3:30pm
– A stop at La Te Da at 4pm.
– Marti will conclude his ride at the San Carlos Institute at 4:30pm.

To help get into the spirit, La Te Da is offering a Cuba Libre drink special for only $5 from 3-5pm.

Martí is portrayed by Actor Ivan Lopez. Organized by The O, Miami Poetry Festival and The Studios of Key West, the recreation of Martí’s historic Key West ride commemorates the patriot’s 166th birthday.

A celebration of Martí’s birthday, presented by the Key West Poetry Guild, follows at 6pm at the San Carlos Institute at 516 Duval Street.
