Where do ghost stories come from? What is a curse? How did seances and paranormal investigations become a part of mainstream America? And what are the connections across cultures with regards to supernatural phenomena? By exploring folklore, and legends, and even modern popular culture, this talk examines the paranormal through the power of story. Additionally, we will learn how tales of genies, doppelgängers, and even the bed-sheet ghost has evolved throughout history.
To learn that supernatural folklore told through story are instrumental in understanding relationships across cultures, and to gain a greater knowledge about why even ghost stories are an important part of our history because of what they reveal about us, and our values.
Sip some spooky Halloween-appropriate cocktails and bask in the candle glow of the courtyard while Artist in Residence Aaron Sagers (Travel Channel host and paranormal pop culture expert) shares his expertise on the subject.
