At 35 years old, Matt Shears is one of the oldest right tackles in the NFL. He and his wife, Emily, are planning for Matt’s retirement. But after Matt’s team goes to the Super Bowl, Matt is determined to play for one more year. Emily is equally determined to keep him off the team and out of harm’s way.

LAURA WINTERS (Playwright)

 

Laura Winters is a bicoastal playwright and screenwriter. Full length plays include All of Me (productions: off-Broadway at The New Group, world premiere at Barrington Stage Company), Coronation (production: Refracted Theatre Company Chicago, non-Equity Jeff Nominated for best New Work, National Playwrights’ Conference finalist), Emerson Loses Her Mind (developmental readings: Roundabout, The Old Globe, Semi-Finalist at NPC), Gonzo (Barrington Stage Burman New Play Award Semi-Finalist, Rough Draft Theatre Festival), and a full-length children’s play, Space Mission #5379: Saving Rachel, Nevada (production: East Valley Children’s Theatre. Recognition: Best Original Script in the Arizoni Theatre Awards of Excellence, 2nd place Jackie White Memorial International Playwriting Contest). The Starters was featured in Labyrinth Theater’s Barn Series, was an NPC semi-finalist, and is currently a Echo Play Contest semi-finalist. She is currently writing the film adaptation of All of Me commissioned by Big Swing Productions and under commission by The Old Globe.

ASHLEY BROOKE MONROE (Director)

 

Ashley Brooke Monroe is a New York-based theatre director whose focus is on developing new plays and musicals. She directed All of Me at The New Group and is resident director for the Hamilton national tour. Broadway: Life of Pi, Indecent, Fun Home, The Glass Menagerie featuring Sally Field. Directing: All of Me (Barrington Stage), Fun Home (Cape Rep), Julius Caesar (CSC), Death Cruise (Access Theater), Tommy’s Girls (Primary Stages), The Goree All-Girl String Band (Theater Row), Orlando (Fordham). Ashley has developed work with Musical Theater Factory, Thicket and Thistle, The Culture Project, The Flea, Soho Rep, Amphibian Stage, IRT, New York Theatre Barn and Special Sauce Company.

CYRUS HOBBI (Matt Shears)

 

Cyrus Hobbi was born in Long Island, New York and grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. He received a full ride football scholarship to the University of Southern California where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts and a Masters degree in Communications. Since college he has been acting full-time along with directing the Slauson Rec. Theater program. He is also very good at pinball. *Member SAG/AFTRA

ELLA PENNINGTON (Emily Shears)

 

Ella Pennington is an actor and photographer originally from the Bay Area. A recent NYC transplant from Chicago, Ella appeared in a reading of Beth Hyland’s Nurse/Juliet with the Kennedy Center. In Chicago, select credits include Beth Hyland’s Seagull at Steppenwolf LookOut and For Services Rendered at Griffin Theatre for which she was listed as one of the most notable performances of the year in the Chicago Tribune. She has appeared in multiple short films including Clambake which, most recently, was screened in the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. SHAWN RANDALL (Troy)

 

Shawn Randall is a Brooklyn-born actor, poet, singer-songwriter, playwright, musician, freestyle emcee, and producer. As a playwright, he made his Off-Broadway debut at The Cherry Lane Theatre as part of the 2020 Mentor Project with his play The Making Of How To Save The World In 90 Minutes. As an actor, Shawn made his Broadway debut in Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Pulitzer Prize–winning, Tony-nominated Between Riverside and Crazy, where he understudied and went on for Common during the Broadway run. He is a proud member of LAByrinth Theater Company and Ensemble Studio Theatre in NYC. Shawn is the founder and host of Symphonics Live, a multidisciplinary performance series celebrating singer-songwriters, poets, dance, and improvisation, promoting generosity, love, integrity, and creativity. The series has been featured at Blue Note, Joe’s Pub, Highline Ballroom, and Bowery Poetry Club. His additional work includes collaborations with Blue Man Group and performances at The Public Theater in NY, Bardavon Opera House, and The Kennedy Center. *Member Actors Equity Association
