About the Event

A casual conversation with the artist about their explorations in film, performance, and the body. Bree will share some clips of their recent moving meditation videos and discuss the connection to their current research in designing cities and public transit.

About the Artist

Bree Gant is a multidisciplinary artist, thinker, and beauty from the westside of Detroit. Bree’s work is rooted in critical practice, using various forms to explore relationships among self, other, environment, and narrative. Gant was awarded a 2017 film fellowship with Detroit Narrative Agency. They are a 2019 Art Matters Fellowship awardee as well as a 2020 Kresge Arts in Detroit Fellow, and 2021 Artist in Residence with Red Bull Arts. Gant studied film at Howard University, and was a teaching artist with People In Education in 2016, where they trained in restorative practices and humanizing schooling. Bree is a member of the performance ensemble Visions of the Evolution, directed by Cherise Morris, and has presented their artwork nationally.
