David Wolkowsky’s Casa Marina home, long a hub of the island’s creative and social life, has been restored in dramatic fashion by Paula and Colin Cabot, with flourishes that honor the late builder’s love of teak, worldly design and impeccable craftsmanship. Wolkowsky’s impact as a developer – his Pier House Hotel set the trajectory for Key West – was matched only by his ability to attract writers, artists and musicians with his come-as-you-are hospitality. Writer and historian Arlo Haskell shares reflections on Wolkowsky’s legacy, while Chicago-based chef Kelly Ijichi—cousin of Lynn and Jackson Kaufelt—serves artisanal Asian-inspired hors d’oeuvres.
