About the Event
Raise a glass on the roof to beloved bon vivant and Hugh’s View namesake, Hugh Ware, on the occasion of what would have been his 99th birthday. Enjoy golden era jazz standards and WWII-era classics performed by Bobby Nesbit and Carmen Rodriguez while watching the sun tip below the horizon.
Bobby Nesbitt
Singer/pianist Bobby Nesbitt is a cabaret artist who specializes in the classic American songbook. Originally from Rochester, NY, Bobby was trained at an early age in classical piano. But Beethoven and Grieg were soon replaced by Berlin and Gershwin as he discovered and concentrated on the masters of 20th Century song.
A resident of Key West, FL , Bobby has performed at all the major resorts on the island. In the mid 80s he moved to Europe and was under contract to Harry’s New York Bar, performing in Berlin and Munich. He returns to Munich on a regular basis, performing at Pusser’s Bar, Germany’s number one cocktail bar.
Carmen Rodriguez
A versatile performer, Carmen Rodriguez has graced the stage of every theatre in Key West, starring in roles such as Jesus Christ Super Star, Little Shop of Horrors, and Pumpboys and Dinettes. Carmen has been a local favorite in many popular night clubs as well as many charity benefits in Key West, and is regularly seen at Virgilio’s Jazz Club, The Pier House, The Cuban Club at El Meson de Pepe and The Historic Casa Marina Hotel as the Wedding Singer.
Carmen most recently appeared at The Red Barn Theatre in Jerry Herman’s Showtunes, as Mother Superior in Meshuggah-Nuns, the Tennessee Williams Theatre with the Key West Pops Orchestra featuring a 42-piece ensemble, the Paradise Big Band, the Red Barn Theatre’s Country Western Jamboree, the Waterfront Theatre’s Gotta Sing a Show Tune and the Red Barn Theatre’s Tribute to Frank Sinatra, My Way.
