Discover the hidden studios and creative energy of a midtown neighborhood on this self-guided tour!
Step inside studios tucked behind palms and quiet streets, meet the artists, and see where the work really happens. Along the way, you’ll find a diverse mix of painting, ceramics, mixed media, and more—plus a few surprises you might not expect.

Easy to Get Around
All studios are located within one a 2 mile radius and are easy to explore by car or bike. Once you have your tickets you can visit the studios in any order and set your own pace for the day.

STOP #1
TOM POPE

Tom moved from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Key West in 1974, building a fifty-year career as an architect before turning his creative focus to watercolor painting. He brings an architect’s eye to light, structure, and atmosphere and looks forward to welcoming visitors into his studio.

STOP #2
BILL HARTMAN AND JILL BENADO

Photographer Jill Benado has lived in Key West for 24 years and is inspired by the island’s vibrant colors and forms. This stop also includes the studio of her late husband, Bill Hartman, a beloved Key West artist whose work reflects a deep connection to the natural world and life on the water.

JEAN CARPER

Jean Carper, New York Times best-selling author and pioneering medical journalist, has recently turned her focus to art. Known for one of the most colorful houses in Key West, she brings the same curiosity and creativity to her vibrant new work.

STOP #4
SALLY WERNICOFF

Wernicoff has been creating sculpture since the early 1990s, working in clay, stone, and plaster from her outdoor studio on Georgia Street. Her pieces, inspired by a lifelong love of carving and honed through master classes and study in Italy, are held in private collections in Key West and around the world.

MICHEL DELGADO

Michel Delgado, a self-taught painter from Senegal, draws on the creative, emotional, and spiritual experiences of his upbringing. His work blends everyday life with fantasy, legend, and memory, and he exhibits widely both in Key West and internationally.

STOP #6
DAN BAR

Dan Bar is a self-taught artist inspired by pop culture and the flat planes of mid-century abstraction. He works in acrylic, marker, and mixed media, currently creating a series of deconstructed bird paintings inspired by Audubon.
