The Studios of Key West is gearing up for another ambitious year of workshops, lectures, music, exhibitions, and diverse cultural events. Complete details will be released on Thursday, October 18, from 6-9pm at a festive kick-off party during Walk on White. Supporters and creative people are invited to the Historic Armory to launch a new season of artistic experiences.
Walk on White is the first chance to view Instruct, a main hall exhibition on display from October 18 through November 9. The show features a variety of new works by 2012-13 TSKW class and workshop instructors. The public will have a chance to preview the work of these inspiring artists before they register for workshops, and will be thrilled by the exciting programs on offer this season.
Works by Don Bartolone, Karen Beauprie, Judi Bradford, Sean Callahan, Alvaro Castagnet, Joseph Cavalieri, Mary Kay Clapp, Nancy Curran, Margo Ellis, Christine Fifer, Rafael Galvez, Craig Gray, Richard Grusin, Mark Hedden, Nan Klingener, Claire Krueger, Amaral Lazaro, Mitch Lyons, Nancy Magnussen, Roberta Marks, Lauren McAloon, Poochie Myers, Candela Prol, Mariette Roodenburg, Mike Rooney, Slaveya Starkov, Susan Sugar and Rick Worth will be on view.
Remaining on view in Space 2 is the exhibition everyone has been talking about —Window Wonderlands & Fantasy Floats by Ann Lorraine. The show offers a chance to revisit 23 years of the iconic and unforgettable window displays of Fast Buck Freddie’s. Nearly all of the work is for sale so visitors have a chance to go home with a piece of Key West history.
Walk on White visitors are also invited to visit the open artist studios at the Armory and 610 White Street, meet the current artists in residence and tour the Ashe Street residency cottages. Understory, a new exhibit curated by Key West-Miami artist Anja Marais, will be on view in the TSKW Nature and Sculpture garden, and features the work of Miami sculptors Frank Hyder, Regina Jestrow, Alette Simmons-Jimenez and Gerry Stecca.
