Explore the unexpected with an open mind! Over the course of this generative workshop (whose title borrows from Rilke) participants can expect to draft several new poems inspired by prompts utilizing artwork, photography, music, and other literary sources including but not limited to Tarot, reference materials, and of course other poets’ poetry.
All level writers are welcome and encouraged.
LGBTQ+ writer and former Key West Poet Laureate, Flower Conroy’s first full-length collection Snake Breaking Medusa Disorder was chosen as the winner of the NFSPS’ Stevens Manuscript Competition; her second collection, A Sentimental Hairpin, is forthcoming from Tolsun Books. Conroy has received scholarships to attend the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Napa Valley Writers’ Conference, Squaw Valley Community of Writers, and the Key West Literary Seminar. Her poetry, alongside her assemblage-art, was showcased at the Studios of Key West in an exhibit called Insects & Angels. Her poetry will/has appeared in American Poetry Review, American Literary Review, New England Review, Prairie Schooner, Michigan Quarterly Review, Menacing Hedge, and others.

The terrace sits four stories above street level and offers panoramic views of the island. The Kitwald Stage glows in the golden twilight of our sunset performances.

With original seating from its days as a Masonic temple, the Helmerich Theater has been updated to also include floor seating. As a black box theater, the set up is intimate but professional, and sets the stage for concerts and performances that leave guests feeling like they really got to know the performer.
