Threads of Humanity with Andrea Varga

Weaving past and present for a sustainable future in textiles and fashion

Connecting human evolution, fiber use, the development of textiles, culture and our contemporary lives into a complex tapestry across time; this talk will explore the interwoven nature, creativity, ingenuity, technology, and artistry of the development and use of fiber and textiles in human history to create paths forward into a sustainable future. We will explore our intimate relationship with the fibers used in our clothing, home goods, and many items that make human life possible – taking steps toward a new, healthier and regenerative apparel system inspired by our pre-industrial past.
