Taming the Garden works by Photographer Allen Rokach

Allen Rokach is that rare photographer who has built a successful career in location photography. For more than thirty years, he has traveled the world on assignments to capture gardens, flowers, people & places for public relations and corporate clients, as well as for magazines and newspapers.

With over 30 years experience in editorial, corporate and commercial photography, he is also a well respected photography instructor and lecturer.  For fourteen years Allen was the Director of Photography and Staff Photographer at The New York Botanical Garden where he initiated the Certificate Program in Garden & Nature Photography.

As a Senior Garden photographer at Southern Living magazine, Allen used his expertise for photographing flowers and gardens, as well as covering travel and feature assignments.  Allen also teaches photography at the International Center of Photography and other workshop programs throughout the United States. Allen’s workshop and lecture schedule for 2012 will include presentations at Winterthur Museum & Country Estate, Chanticleer Garden, Chicago Flowers Show, Chicago Botanic Garden, Dallas Arboretum & Botanic Garden, The New York & Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and at The Santa Fe & Adorama Photography Workshops.    Rokach has been widely published. He has coauthored with Anne Millman 15 books and numerous articles on various aspects of photography, nature and travel. These include “Focus on Flowers: Discovery & Photographing Beauty in Gardens & Wild Places,” published by Abbeville Press and winner of the 1991 Award of the Year for Photography from the Garden Writers Association of America.

Allen’s prints of flowers, trees and landscapes are widely collected.
