Humans have a natural impulse to collect and catalog. Artist Joseph Cornell, as well as the early Cabinets of Curiosity, show how this impulse can be channeled into artistic expression. Learn about this history and then create your own piece of artwork reflecting your personal history and memories. Grobstein teaches students how to build a simple box and then create a meaningful composition of found objects within it.
Each participant will walk away with a finished shadowbox that expresses their own history and sensibility.
