Ever watched a movie and thought, “I can write a better movie than that!”? Well, why not give it a shot? All you need is a little expert guidance, right?
You can get it from Key West screenwriter and playwright Bob Bowersox, who returns with his popular screenwriting course. Participants not only learn the elements of screenwriting, but craft their own screenplays through the class. Topics include Structure, Plot vs. Story vs. Premise, Characters, Dialogue, Conflict and Drama, and more.
“What I want each participant to come away with is a much better understanding of the very specific craft of screenwriting,” Bowersox said. “Hollywood has a very delineated way they want to see scripts — both in story and in structure. It’s not enough to have a good idea. You have to know how to transform that idea into a viable movie script.”

Bowersox holds a Professional Programs MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, as well as having studied both screenwriting and playwriting at Gotham Writers in New York, and in masterclasses with the likes of Aaron Sorkin, Shonda Rhimes, and David Mamet. He has penned eight screenplays, three of which have been optioned by Hollywood production companies. He’s had scripts win or place in several prestigious competitions, including the Nicholl Fellowships, the Austin Film Festival, Final Draft’s Big Break, The American Screenwriting Awards, and Project Greenlight One and Two. He’s also written five hit plays that have had their World Premieres on the professional stage of the Red Barn Theatre, here in Key West. He’s had one play produced internationally, and one was chosed for the Broadway Black List: The Top Unproduced Plays of the Year (2016).
