More than a reading group, Nancy and Mark bring their dry humor, love of books, and deep knowledge of Key West to this popular series. Nancy is a former Miami Herald reporter and regular WLRN contributor, while Mark brings a bit of rock-and-roll to his writing about birds and mysteries.
Mark Hedden writes narrative nonfiction, primarily ornithology-oriented natural history, which most people refer to as “stuff about birds.” He has also written about necrovoyeurism, his love of the Tour de France, his aversion to pirates, his hatred of clowns, the inappropriate use of firearms during photo shoots, and music. His work has been published in the Bone Island Sun, the Key West Citizen, Solares Hill newspaper, the Miami Herald, Tropic magazine, Miami Metro magazine, the Washington Post, and the secret of salt.
Nancy Klingener lives in Key West. A former newspaper reporter and editor, she recently left a five-year gig at the Key West Library to relapse back into journalism, this time in radio. She serves on the board of the Key West Literary Seminar and lives in Key West with her husband, writer/photographer/birder Mark Hedden and their extremely good-looking but frequently overly boisterous German shorthaired pointer, Elly.
