2016/17 season details coming soon!
Free and open to the public
Join us for short film screenings presented in conjunction with Portable Memories in Rising Seas, a participatory project and upcoming exhibition by the artist collective Fifty-Fifty that connects climate change and memory. At the screening, Fifty-Fifty will open a discussion about the changing landscape and our relationship to Key West, as lived experiences and memories of the local land, habitat, and culture. Attendees will be invited to record their responses to the films and conversation through drawing and doodling, as part of this ongoing project. How are we grappling with climate change on individual and collective levels in a city we are actively still creating?
The evening will include a full screening of the short film La Maison en Petit Cubes and and a portion of the film Thule Tuvalu.
Elissa Bishop-Becker, M.Ed., local author, professional counselor, and expert on the grief process, will be working together with Fifty-Fifty to lead the participatory event.
Fifty-Fifty is an artist collective founded by Lisa Bulawsky and Laurencia Strauss, working at the intersection of individual experience and the public sphere, negotiating cultural tensions through socially engaged participatory art practices.
