Meet Your Instructor

Maggie Ruley moved to Key West in 1985 after receiving her BFA from the University of Arizona. Her first studio in Key West was on the corner of Thomas and Petronia in the Blue Heaven building where the restaurant is now. She has some great stories of these early days, so be sure to ask her about them if you see her around town!

She created a body of work that incorporates the tropical motifs and colors found in Key West’s island lifestyle. The exploration of these themes continues throughout her work. Ruley has a studio and gallery space in the heart of Old Town on Fleming St., called Island Inspirations. Most days she can be found at the easel, and on Thursdays, teaching classes in her studio.
