Katrina Brees has spent the last 10 years co-producing over 200 parades. In 2003, she introduced New Orleans to the Mardi Bra, her first of 1000s of eco-conscious, ‘trashion’ concepts as seen on NBC, CNN, MTV, countless films, commercials, television, stores and parades.
For this workshop Brees will used materials, from parades past, to create a wearable work of art for your favorite October festivities!
All supplies for this workshop will be included.
More about the talented Katrina Brees:
Brees was motivated to share her love of parading with others and founded The Bearded Oysters Dance Troupe in 2004. The world was clearly her oyster; the troupe is now the largest in America with a current membership of 800 women and Brees has opened chapters in California and NYC. As an accomplished float designer and performance artist, Brees has focused her creative talents on founding the Krewe of Kolossos, New Orleans’ first parading krewe of professional Carnival makers for hire. Brees also serves as ringmaster of the Cirque du Kolossos, an a la carte Carnival-for-hire helping performance artists book events. Brees was deeply affected by the BP Deepwater Horizon tragedy and was motivated to use her powers of parading to affect change. In 2012, Brees founded the Greening of the Gras conference: a platform to connect Louisiana residents with solutions to the devastating impact petroleum-based Mardi Gras beads are having on our ecology, economy, health, culture and global community. Brees now presents I Heart Louisiana LLC as the sustainable future of Mardi Gras.
