Small press, corporate publisher, self-publish? Find your best path.
Sonya Chung presents a candid discussion of the different routes to publishing chronicling both the challenges and opportunities in the increasingly diverse, creative publishing landscape for literary writers.
The session will include detailed and real-world information about the publishing process, as well as personal stories about the drastically different publishing experiences I myself had with a corporate (“Big Five”) publisher, and an independent micropress, as well as two very different agents. A robust Q&A discussion will be part of the session, inviting participants to ask any/all questions they have, especially if they have little/no experience in publishing. The focus is not on any “best” or “right” way to publish, but on the fact that each book and each author should and can find its own particular optimal publishing path; and that there are many vibrant and exciting paths. My approach is both realistic and optimistic.
