Multidisciplinary Artist, Designer
St Louis, MO

Laurencia Strauss is an artist and designer who investigates the vulnerabilities of interdependency and self-reliance by working from an multidisciplinary and many faceted perspective. Having been raised with an Argentinian and southern U.S. background in the ecologically sensitive and tourist-laden city of Miami, she has carried these influences and paradoxes; combined with her degrees in art and landscape design, with her as she has lived in various urban and rural locations. Her work is site and socially based, using art, craft and design strategies to evoke intimacy and a consciousness of interdependency. Projects encompass public interventions, design of public spaces, and participatory installations in venues such as at The Luminary in St. Louis and Art in Odd Places in New York. She has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and Boston Architectural College, and has been a lead instructor and Resident Scholar Artist at nationally recognized youth art organizations.
