Tackle two of the hardest elements of figure work – hands and feet. The artistic exploration of hands and feet reaches all the way back to antiquity. Anatomical understanding and a vibrant sense of aesthetics and design reveal hands and feet as powerful signifiers of emotion, expression and narrative. This workshop explores the depiction of hands and feet in the history of art and leads the participant through drawing from life to an aesthetic exploration of the possibilities of this subject matter.

Speer is a classically trained painter and highly successful Chicago-based caricature artist. He is an alumnus of Vienna’s National Academy of the Fine Arts and recipient of the Academy’s prestigious Johannes Fuger Medal.
