Class Description

Brockway introduces an era of creative evolution through three lenses: painting, music, film. This introductory course will underscore the perspective that Surrealism is not just a historical period in literature and art, but it remains vibrant in popular culture and forms of protest today.

Meet Your Instructor

Ian Brockway is a painter, poet and movie critic. He has a background in art, surrealism and literature through his late father, the painter William Brockway, as well as friendships with the Surrealist Paul Hodecker and the noted mixed media artist Roberta Marks. In 1993, Brockway received an BA degree in Literature from The University of Miami. In 1998, Brockway received a Master’s in Painting Studio from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Currently Brockway writes for KonkLife in the weekly Tropic Cinema review column.
