Ilana Simons makes short films that focus on the cross-section of literature and psychology. The author of A Life of One’s Own: A Guide to Better Living through the Work and Wisdom of Virginia Woolf (Penguin, 2007), she received her Ph.D. in Literature from NYU in 2003 and her Ph.D. in Psychology from The New School in 2010. She founded Tin House Reels, an online home for short videos at Tin House Magazine, and has a private practice in psychology, in which she works with artists. She lives with her husband in New York City.
