Director Adam Cooley takes the stage as the titular character Hedwig in this no-holds-barred production of the cult classic that played to capacity crowds in his hometown Baltimore. Onstage with his band, Hedwig recounts escaping from East Germany, undergoing a botched sex change (hence the “angry inch”), and navigating the raunchily glam world of rock and roll. The result, which oscillates between a raucous concert, theatrical performance, and hilarious stand-up routine, is one of the wildest on-stage monologues ever produced. A showman in every sense of the word, Cooley has been acting off-Broadway, on TV and in film for over 10 years. He’s traveled with Cindy Lauper’s True Colors tour, and organized major musical events, parties, and creative projects throughout the MidAtlantic.
