Class Description

Tips, tools and steps to simplify graphite drawing and realism. In class we will cover and practice all steps needed to create a realistic pencil drawing, starting with picking out an image and choosing the proper materials. We’ll then cover the basics of transferring and proportioning the image to paper using a grid technique. The finished piece will have realistic looking depth, tone ranges, details and highlights made using different drawing and mark making styles. This process will include group critiques, demonstrations, in-class work and practice time. Buckheim Trosset will also give at home exercises that will focus on honing the skills for each step.
