Class Description
Gelli plate printing is a fun and accessible way to create beautiful multilayered mono prints that can be used in your next mixed media art project or stand as a piece of artwork on their own. In this class you will learn how to create bands of color and texture and develop your images with stencils, stamping and drawing. Prints are made with acrylic paint and a gelli plate. This gelatinous slab allows you to create beautiful mono types without a press. Unlike traditional woodblock printing, this is not a precise practice and often the results are surprising adding to the fun. Come to appreciate the beauty found in the imperfect and unexpected!
Meet Your Instructor
Marlene Koenig’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States from the Miami museum of modern art to the Zipper Factory in Brooklyn NY. Her work is part of private collections across the globe from San Francisco to Norway. She has had the great pleasure of painting murals in private homes as well as restaurants and businesses throughout Key West to the fashionable Wynwood district of Miami, Florida.
Whether her work is for a commercial space on a grand scale or featured in the more intimate setting of a gallery or home, her goal is always the same: to layer spirit, ritual, and ornament.
As well as being a visual artist, Koenig is a committed instructor teaching yoga, meditation and art throughout the world. Her fluid, integrated classes bring ease into the body and stillness to the mind.
