Lothar Speer brings his classical approach to the figure back to The Studios. Following in the footsteps of the masters, Speer leads his students through the basics of anatomy, rendering muscle and skeletal structure and the importance of lighting and tone. An alumnus of Vienna’s National Academy of the Fine Arts and recipient of the Academy’s prestigious Johannes Fuger Medal, Lothar leads his students to higher levels of self-sufficiency and visual acuity. This workshop is designed to turn every participant into their own successful teacher and fortify general drawing and design skills by providing the secrets and tricks of 500 years of European Old Master studio practice – powerful tools that have withstood the test of time. All along, Lothar uses his irreverent humor and unconventional art historical perspectives to turn this learning experience into a fun, invigorating and lasting contribution to each participant’s creative journey.
