A letter from Rosi Ware, TSKW Board Chair
As we celebrate 5 fabulous years of The Studios of Key West, it is with regret that I announce that our Executive Director, Jay Scott, has decided to resign, effective June 1. Professional and personal circumstances will require him to spend an increasing amount of time in his home state of Wisconsin. Therefore, he will not have the time required to effectively continue as the Executive Director of TSKW.
During this transition period we will explore options for Jay’s continued involvement in TSKW and the Artist in Residence Program. He will also be available to support the new Executive Director as he or she assumes leadership of our organization.
Under Jay’s leadership, TSKW has continued to deliver outstanding programs while diversifying our financial support. We have built an enviable reputation in both the local community and nationally. Jay oversaw the incredibly successful campaign to renovate our Ashe Street cottages so that we can now offer 40 one-month residencies for artists and writers from all over the world. Our staff has worked tirelessly to bring some of the best in the art world to Key West, be it musicians, visual artists, sculptors or writers and to involve and include the local community every step of the way.
A search committee has been formed and an external and local search is already under way. We are planning for a smooth transition to take TSKW on to the next 5 years of its life. We will continue to raise the bar even higher in the caliber of artists we attract to Key West and share with the community. During this transition we ask all of our Friends, Patrons, Business Sponsors, Studio Artists, and participants in our programs to continue to support your creative community.
