The Studios of Key West, Key West Theater, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Tropic Cinema, and the Key West United Methodist Church unite for the second annual “Eaton Street Christmas Stroll” on December 9th.
During this new holiday tradition on Eaton Street, each venue will host a short Christmas-themed performance with caroling as you walk from presentation to presentation.
The festivities begin at 4pm at St Paul’s with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Keys Choral Arts presenting more than 60 singers performing a variety of old Christmas Carols in new musical settings including “Silent Night,” “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.” Audience members will then receive a map to other venues and choose their next performance option.
The next performances are festival-style with the Tropic Cinema showing “A Charlie Brown Christmas” beginning at 5:15pm and lasting throughout the evening. Also at 5:15pm and again at 6:45pm, the Key West Theater presents the lively “Larry Smith & Friends in Concert” while The Studios of Key West presents the Key West High School Drama Club performing their original evening of Christmas-themed songs, stories, and sketches including “’Twas The Night Before Christmas.” In addition, The Studios of Key West’s annual members’ show will be on view with opportunities for all to buy reasonably-priced local art. At 6pm, Old Stone Methodist Church presents their one-time-only performance of the Key West United Methodist Choir singing the profoundly-moving cantata “Once Upon a Night” by Pepper Choplin.
