How can you tell Beethoven from Bach? Stravinsky from Strauss? It doesn’t have to be a mystery. This class will cover “classical” music from medieval times to the 20th century. The goal is to improve and enhance the listening skills and knowledge of participants. By using numerous musical examples, participants will learn how to listen to and discuss a symphony, solo or chamber concert or piece of music. Elements such as melody, harmony, texture, instrumentation, rhythm and form will be included. No prior knowledge is required.
