David Kaufelt, KW Literary Seminar founder, dies at 74

David A. Kaufelt, novelist and founder with his wife, Lynn, of the internationally acknowledged Key West Literary Seminar, died Friday night at age 74.

The Kaufelts arrived in Key West in the 1970s. The Seminar was founded in 1983 out of their Sugarloaf Key home as a program operated by the Council for Florida Libraries. The inaugural event, known as the Key West Literary Tour and Seminar, consisted of readings, panel discussions, literary walking tours, and cocktail parties and this basic format remains unchanged, internet sources state.
