Three of Cuba’s most significant contemporary artists visit The Studios as part of One Race, The Human Race, a cultural exchange between Key West and Cuba. Manuel Mendive fashions a primitive Afro-Cuban mythology through painting, sculpture and performance. Roberto Fabelo’s paintings and sculptures evince Kafka-esque surrealism. And Rocío Garcia crystallizes intense, darkly erotic moments with sensitive line and bold color. Mendive’s body-painted dancers perform at the opening!
