Cortadito is a Cuban folk & country music band from Miami connecting the past and present to bring you the future of Cuban Son, a style of Afro-Cuban music that forms the bedrock for most forms of salsa music and Latin jazz.
Since its origins ten years ago, Cortadito has become one of the torch bearers of a pop culture phenomenon that is two centuries strong. A traditional folk and acoustic band that focuses on performing one of the earliest styles of Cuban country music known as Son (pronounced sOwn), their sound can best be described as reminiscent of the famed Buena Vista Social Club.
In June of 2019, Cortadito was named “Best Latin Act” by the Miami New Times in their “Best of Miami” issue. They also started producing a series of shows featuring a variety of special guests called “Cortadito and Friends”. Featured performers have included flutist Nestor Torres, percussionist Sammy Figueroa, violinist Federico Britos, and many more.
