Key West, FL — The Studios of Key West is pleased to announce the 2026 season of its acclaimed conversation series, Between Two Palms, featuring award-winning writers, musicians, and journalists in dialogue with Stephen Kitsakos, Artistic Associate & Executive Producer of the series. What began as an online lifeline during the pandemic has grown into one of The Studios’ most anticipated programs, bringing distinguished guests to the intimate Helmerich Theater for insightful, candid conversations about craft, creativity, and the world we live in.

The 2026 season opens on January 12 with Danny Rubin, the celebrated screenwriter and author best known for Groundhog Day, the beloved film that became a cultural touchstone and later a Tony-nominated Broadway musical. Rubin will discuss his writing process, the film’s enduring impact, and the ways story structure shapes human experience.

On February 10, Kitsakos welcomes Carter Brey, principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic and one of the most acclaimed classical musicians of his generation. Known for his expressive artistry and decades-long leadership within the Philharmonic, Brey will reflect on music-making at the highest level and the evolving world of classical performance.

The season concludes on February 23 with Roxana Saberi, award-winning journalist, author, and former CBS News correspondent. Saberi, whose reporting spans global conflict zones and major human rights stories, will speak about the courage, clarity, and ethical responsibility required in modern journalism, as well as her own journey as an American political prisoner in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison.

About Between Two Palms

Created in 2020 by Stephen Kitsakos—director, librettist, educator, and chair of The Studios’ Artistic Advisory Board—Between Two Palms began as a digital innovation when The Studios pivoted to online programming during the COVID-19 pandemic. The early virtual series featured luminaries such as Marisa Tomei, Tony Shalhoub, Judith Light, Paula Vogel, Kenny Leon, Dorie Greenspan, Michael Urie, and British podcaster Emma Manners, the Duchess of Rutland.

In 2023, the program transitioned to in-person conversations in the Helmerich Theater, where audiences now enjoy a uniquely intimate experience with artists and thinkers shaping today’s cultural landscape. Last season, in-person audiences were captivated by a discussion with Boston Globe Spotlight reporter Mike Rezendes.
