Drawing upon folklore, literature, history, and current events, Ramos’s prints pack powerful social statements, while retaining elements of the familiar. She is considered one of the preeminent contemporary artists in her native Cuba. Presented as part of One Race, The Human Race.
Sandra Ramos was among the first artists to expose the harsh realities of Cuban life in paintings and drawings that address issues of racism, poverty, and mass migration. Respected and collected by museums around the world including the MOMA.
