HE WHO LAUGHS, LASTS: DINNER & CONVERSATION WITH DAVE BARRY, MIKE LUCKOVICH & MIKE PETERS

    • Sat Mar 19, 6:30-9PM
    • Hosted by Helen Walker and Leo Waters at their Bahama Village home
    • Key West Casual
    • Family-style dinner + beer & wine
    • 30 guests / $200

If laughter is the best medicine, then tonight’s featured guests – humorist Dave Barry and cartoonists Mike Luckovich and Mike Peters – are just what the doctor ordered. The three old friends (and Pulitzer-winners) have been skewering politicians for decades, and they have stories to tell!

Join Barry, Luckovich and Peters for a seated, family-style dinner at the home of our friends Helen Walker and Leo Waters, featuring chef Martin Liz’s elegant take on Cuban Conch cuisine. As dinner winds down, the trio will share stories, field questions, and send you home with a smile, no matter what’s going on.

Dave Barry is the author of more books than he can count, ran a nationally syndicated column from the Miami Herald from 1983 to 2005 and had his life turned into a TV show with “Dave’s World,” the 1990’s sitcom. Mike Peters lands on the doorstep of 100 million Americans every morning with his 38-year-running comic strip “Mother Goose & Grimm” and regularly skewers the political class with his editorial cartoons. Mike Luckovich is another titan in the pantheon of editorial cartoonists, balancing satire and compassion with nationally syndicated panels from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A COLLECTOR’S PARADISE

    • Wed Apr 6, 5-7pm
    • Hosted by Glen and Margaret Wood at their Casa Marina home
    • Key West Casual (no high heels, please!)
    • Hors d’oeuvres + beer, wine & spirits
    • 50 guests / $100

Glen and Margaret Wood have travelled to art fairs and studios around the globe, assembling an eclectic collection of contemporary art with an emphasis on young emerging artists. Their sleek Casa Marina home was designed with that collection in mind, and is a work of art in itself, designed by Key West architect Matthew Stratton. Grab a cocktail and a friend for a self-guided tour of the art and the architecture, then join Glen and Margaret and a few dozen of our closest friends by the pool for delicious food and stimulating conversation. Eats provided by Great Events catering.
