Class Description

In this workshop for writers of all backgrounds/playwrights of all levels, students will learn some secret tricks to making their adaptations stand out. Students will come into the class with required reading of a well known fairytale and come out of the class with a blueprint for the beginning of a short or full length adaptation.

Drawing from her own extensive experience with adaptation, Catherine will help students realize that adaptations are all about your personal relationship to the work and what excites you about the original story. Through discussion, we will explore why audiences always love an adaptation and how to make your stand out. We will also do a series of writing exercises to help students start writing their own adaptations.
