The Summer Salon blossomed into a stellar showcase in this its second year, featuring new exciting work by 64 TSKW members. Representing unique styles, a variety of mediums, various stages of careers and experiences showing work – first time exhibitors where paired with those more established- the artists created a celebration of talent that was brilliant in color as well as confidence. The opening reception brought together hundreds of Key West year round residents and visitors to mingle at the Potluck Buffet where the culinary arts complimented the quality works in the show. Several works were quickly snagged by collectors, including works by Margo Ellis, Jane Grannis, Claire Perrault, and Ruben Concepcion. We thank all the artists and art lovers who made it another magical evening. Those who say summer is slow in Key West are the ones not here!
Members can anticipate two premier exhibition opportunities next year. Our winter show, “Rags to Riches: Key West History & Architecture”, a thematic show open to current and new members working in any medium, is scheduled from January 20-31, with an opening reception during Walk on White January 20, 6-9 pm. And pencil in July 2011 for the 3rd Annual Summer Salon – now a staple in Key West summertime culture.
