Ashley Tamber began doing line drawings while using photos of deteriorating textiles for reference as a memento mori, which she then translated to metal. Her color palette was inspired by her adoration of copper’s natural weather patina (deterioration).
Students may bring original poetry, photography, or paintings they wanted to use as inspiration to class and then discuss as a group which aspects of the piece could carry over into something wearable.
