To Paris with Love

Vocalist Libby York has been praised by the New York Times as ” …a jazz singer of cool composure and artful subtlety, as she demonstrates on her fine CD “Here With You.”  JazzTimes cites her “…voice like amber, smooth and rich. York proves that simple beauty is often the most stunning.” Chicago Music Examiner says ” ..her jazz lies in her phrasing and in her interpretation. Her voice has a kind of smile to it…such an inviting voice, you feel at home the first time you hear it.” York’s international appearances have included several tours to the City of Light, most recently at Cafe Laurent, where she delighted audiences last autumn. This concert is a Valentine from an American in Paris to the city so many Key Westers love and continue to visit often. Nat King Cole hits “Darling Je Vous Aime Beaucoup”  and “Paris Blues” will be featured along with other impressions of a day and night….jour et nuit…. in the world’s most beautiful city.

Libby’s accompanist will be John Simon, veteran record producer of The Band, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Mama Cass Elliott, Michael Franks, Gil Evans, Marshall McLuhan and others. He’s also recorded several albums of his own songs, composed ballet music for Twyla Tharp, and circus music for Philippe Petit .His other upcoming shows include playing with Taj Mahal at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and his own show at Joe’s Pub in New York April 25.
