Sculpture/Photo/Mixed Media
Wednesdays, 9am-12pm
Cuban American photographer and filmmaker Marrero will share the scope of his professional experience from his commercial lens, to the fine art of image making. The goal of this class — whether your interest is in studio work, fine art or family archives — is to make you a better photographer.
Wednesday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm
Silk screen printing is an ancient technique that is both a fine art and commercial medium. Students are guided through the basics needed to print an inspired design, while learning about stencil-making, layering colors, high-contrast resolution, and photosensitive emulsion.
Friday, 2-5pm
Students make stamps, templates, and paper — all from things found in the wild and even the produce section of your supermarket! Created inks and paint from spices, flowers, and vegetation. Come ready to create wild homemade designs from things you might have never considered.
Thursday-Friday, 10am-2pm
This two day hands-on workshop provides a basic knowledge of encaustic, a tradition dating to the ancient Greeks and enjoying renewed popularity. By mixing pigment into wax, give unusual dimension to your work, provide new substance and body to a photograph, add translucent layers, alter the illusion of space, and transform your imagery.
Wednesday, 1-4pm
This workshop is an introduction to the creative and versatile world of 3-D papercraft. In a few hours, learn the basic construction methods for pop-ups and tunnel books. The techniques and materials are amazingly simple, yet can expand into sophisticated sculptural shapes that are endlessly changeable.
